The RGLNG is a planned natural gas liquefaction and export project located in the Port of Brownsville in South Texas, US.
The project is currently being developed by Houston-based company NextDecade and will be supplied with natural gas from the Permian Basin, Eagle Ford Shale and other resources.
The RGLNG will be supplied through NextDecade’s proposed Rio Bravo Pipeline, which will comprise twin 42 inch (1,067 mm) pipelines that share right of way along an approximately 225 km route from the Agua Dulce area to Brownsville, Texas.
“Our joint bid with Saipem will feature optimised execution strategies that result in increased certainty on schedule and cost as compared to other LNG projects on the US Gulf Coast,” said McDermott President and CEO David Dickson.
“Pursuant to NextDecade’s competitive process, we plan to submit our joint engineering, procurement and construction proposal in the second quarter of 2019.”
In October, the US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission issued a draft environmental impact statement (EIS) on RGLNG and RBPL, with the final EIS planned for April 2019.
NextDecade expects to achieve a final investment decision on the project in the third quarter of 2019.
