The Korea Gas Corporation (Kogas) said it will sign the contract with Iraq’s Oil Pipelines Co (OPC) this month. OPC is a state-run company controlled by Iraq’s Ministry of Oil.
Kogas was selected as the preferred builder in a process that had eight contenders, it said. Under the contract, the pipeline will be built by September 2014, it added.
This is Kogas’ second overseas pipeline project, following the first in Mozambique where the firm will build a 65 km long gas pipeline which it will then manage until September 2033. Kogas has conducted various consulting services as a member of international consortia with regard to the LNG terminal business in Mexico, Singapore, the UAE, and China.
