The pipeline will pass through East Godavari, West Godavari, Krishna, Guntur, Prakasam, Nallore and Chitoor districts of Andhra Pradesh, and Thiruvallur and Vellore districts of Tamil Nadu.
Mr Prasada said that the pipeline, an extension of the Kakinada – Chennai pipeline, will pass through Vellore, Tiruvannamalai, Viluppuram, Salem, Namakkal, Tiruchirappalli, Karur, Dindigul, Madurai, Virudhunagar and Thoothukkudi districts of Tamil Nadu.
Commissioning of the Chennai – Tuticorin pipeline is scheduled for the third quarter of 2012.
