IRAN’S ageing oil pipelines are to be replaced with new ones, the managing director of National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company (NIORDC) Mohammadreza Nematzadeh said recently. Replacing “the worn-out pipelines is top on the company’s agenda”, he said. Without causing any interruption in the flow of oil products, new pipelines will gradually replace the lines of over 50 years age because there always exists the possibility of corrosion and rupture, he commented. Some of the country’s pipeline network is already inoperable, and therefore it should be partially or totally replaced, Mahmud Emamzadeh, another official with the oil ministry, said.
