Iran keen to sign pipeline deal with Iraq

The two countries, both members of the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), signed an initial agreement for a pipeline running from Basra to Iran’s Abadan refinery in 2005.

The trade attach̩ at the Iranian embassy in Baghdad Ali Heidari told Reuters thta the revived plan to export Iraqi crude is presently being reviewed by Iraqi officials.

“We gave a draft of the agreement to the Iraqi side…It is in its final stages, it could be signed within a month,” said Mr Heidari.
