A 100 km pipeline will transport the dry feed gas processed at the Badra to the Az-Zubaidiya power station, which supplies power to the county’s capital Baghdad and throughout Iraq.
The natural gas liquids produced at the processing plant will supply the state-owned Gas Filling Company with LPG.
The plant also has the facilities for sulphur production and granulation.
The plant’s opening was attended by Russian Federation Minister of Energy Alexander Novak, Republic of Iraq Minister of Oil Jabbar al-Luaibi and Gazprom Neft CEO Alexander Dyukov.
“Gazprom Neft is continuing its development of the Badra field, in strict adherence to the field development plan,” Mr Dyukov said.
“Today sees the full-cycle gas plant — built by our company using the most cutting-edge technologies available on the world market — going into commercial production.
“Since starting work, Gazprom Neft has been able to monetise all of the hydrocarbons produced here, ensuring associated-petroleum-gas utilisation of at least 95 per cent.”
