Gazprom celebrates start of construction on Dzhubga – Lazarevskoye – Sochi gas pipeline

Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee Alexey Miller and Governor of Krasnodar Krai Alexander Tkachev took part in the celebrations.

“The Dzhubga – Lazarevskoye – Sochi gas pipeline is a substantial contribution of Gazprom in the preparations for the 2014 Winter Olympic Games. The new gas transmission thoroughfare will ensure a reliable electric energy supply to the host city of the Winter Olympic games as well as gas supply to the Olympic facilities under construction,” said Mr Miller.

The 530 mm gas pipeline will stretch 177 km, including a 159.5 km offshore section, which will run along the coastline to the Kudepsta gas distribution station near Sochi.

The pipeline will have onshore sections near Dzhubga, Novomikhailovskoye, Tuapse and Kudepsta and has an anticipated gas capacity of 3.8 Bcm/a.

The project is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2010.
