FPL has proposed an approximately 483 km pipeline originating in Bradford county and travelling through 14 counties to provide natural gas to their plants located in Brevard and Palm Bach counties, which are being converted from oil-burning to gas-fired plants.
The 30 inch diameter pipeline would have a capacity of 600 MMcf/d and be buried alongside existing overhead transmission lines.
Volusia officials and FPL representatives are hoping to engage with residents at the upcoming meeting to inform them about the potential project including issues regarding safety and the environment during construction.
