The damaged section of pipe was isolated to stop the flow of natural gas and taken out of service.
Initial reports cite the incident was caused by the pipeline being struck by a contractor that was working for a local electric utility. The incident is under investigation.
The 36 inch, 636 km North Texas pipeline extends from the Waha hub in West Texas to the Carthage hub in East Texas. The pipeline has the capacity to transport approximately 800 MMcf/d of natural gas.
Service curtailments as a result of the incident are approximately 250 MMcf/d. Once the investigation is completed, repairs to the pipeline are expected to be completed in three to four days.
