New pipeline will be added upstream and downstream of the Atmos system to complete a link from North Texas to the head of Enbridge’s new gas transmission line at Bethel, Texas. This 500-million cuft/d East Texas transmission line provides gas to systems operated by Houston Pipe Line and Natural Gas Pipe Line Co of America.
Completion of the final leg of the new transmission line is scheduled for the end of June, when it will increase access to the major Carthage, Texas, hub, and the five-year term transportation agreement will go into effect in April, 2006, when first deliveries begin.
Growing production from the Barnett Shale requires the additional market outlets, said an Enbridge spokesman. Enbridge’s East Texas transmission line was designed with a link from North Texas in mind, and the line’s capacity can be further expanded to accommodate natural gas supply growth in North and East Texas, he said.
