Dolphin deals

However, the consortium is still waiting to sign a crucial long-term sales contract with Dubai for around 50% of the gas.
In January, Mitsui signed a contract with Dolphin Energy to provide over 400,000 tons of pipe for the 440-km long line that is to pass under the Gulf from Ras Laffan in Qatar to al Taweelah in Abu Dhabi. Mitsui is to finance up to 100% of the midstream part of the project, which could cost up to $1 billion. Dolphin has already signed contracts for the upstream part of the project.
At the same time, Dolphin Energy is proceeding with plans to import gas from Oman via a new 245-km pipeline to run across the Oman-UAE border to power and desalination facilities now being built by UOG in the emirate of Fujairah. First gas is due to Fujairah this September, with volumes running at some 120MMcf/d for up to five years before it is replaced by gas from Qatar.
