Cairn has been trucking crude oil produced in Rajastan’s Barmer district to Reliance Industries and Mangalore Refinery & Petrochemicals. The Mangala – Salaya Pipeline will enable Cairn to reduce truck movements and expand its customer base to include Indian Oil Corporation and Essar Oil.
Cairn said that Processing Trains One and Two at the Mangala Processing Terminal (MPT) have been commissioned.
Train Three, which will have a capacity of 50,000 bbl/d of oil, will be completed by the end of the second quarter 2010. Train Four is scheduled for completion in 2011.
The $US940 million Mangala – Salaya oil pipeline will have a total capacity of approximately 150,000 bbl/d of oil when it becomes fully operational.
