The protocol on putting the pipeline in operation was signed on 30 December, 2002, and the official launch of gas exports along the 1220-km 24-in pipeline was scheduled for 3 February. It is planned to supply 2Bcm of gas to Turkey this year, and the pipeline is to reach its planned capacity of 16Bcm/yr by 2008.
