Mr Lukashenka said “We have approached the matter seriously several times. Unfortunately, everyone is fighting for their markets and doesn’t want to give them for nothing.”
Regarding the possibility of importing Azerbaijan’s oil via Ukraine, Mr Lukashenka said “We studied these scenarios; we will set down to the implementation of the project as soon as we agree on commercially beneficial terms. There is an interest in it on the part of Azerbaijan, Caspian states, Ukraine and Belarus.”
The 674 km Odessa-Brody crude oil pipeline runs between the Ukrainian cities of Odessa, near the Black Sea coast, and Brody, near the Ukrainian-Polish border. The pipeline is operated by Ukrtransnafta, the Ukraine’s state-owned oil pipeline company.
