Bangladesh’s Energy Minister AKM Mosharraf has said that if the pipeline was set up, at least $300million would be invested in the foreign exchange-starved country. He said that Bangladesh would also get $100million a year as carrying charges, another $100million as one-time right of way charges, and $25million per year for sharing management of the pipe.
However, the minister said that for final approval, India will have to agree to conditions that include laying the pipeline along Bangladesh’s existing roads and highways and having the project jointly managed by India and Bangladesh.
