Balfour Beatty acquires Kentons

Kentons provides a complete asset-maintenance and replacement service for the gas, water, and wastewater sectors, including investigation, design, construction, and commissioning.
Kentons is forecast to have sales in the 12 months to 30 April, 2002, of å£65 million, and operating profits of approximately å£4.4 million. It employs 1,200 people throughout the UK. It has a forward order book of approximately å£190 million, and is preferred bidder on a further å£75 million of work. Its principal customers, on long-term contracts, include Transco (First Connect), Yorkshire Water, Northumbrian Water, United Utilities, the Scottish water authorities, and Mid-Kent Water.
The addition of Kentons gives Balfour Beatty annual sales of approximately å£250 million and an order book of over å£450 million in the utilities sector.
,BALFOUR Beatty, the international engineering, construction, and services group, has acquired Kentons, the Yorkshire-based utility services contractor, for å£28 million.
