According to the Bahrain News Agency (BNA), the defendants were convicted on a range of charges, including establishing and joining a terrorist group, as well as handling, possession, use of explosives and detonation of a terrorist blast.
Although no one was injured during the explosion, Bahrain Foreign Minister Khalid bin Ahmed al-Khalifa later said on Twitter the attack was designed to terrorise citizens and damage the global oil industry.
BNA reported five of the seven were sentenced to life in prison and individually fined of US$530,490, while the sixth and seventh were fined US$265,245 and sentenced to 10 years in prison and 5 years in prison, respectively.
The first six defendants were all were jointly ordered to pay US$171,287 to compensate for the damages caused by the pipeline bombing and stripped of their nationality.
