The pipeline would run from Kigali, the capital of Rwanda, to Bujumbura, the capital of Burundi, in central Africa.
The principal objective of this project is to investigate the technical, economic and financial feasibility of constructing an approximately 220 km oil products pipeline.
The project includes the following components:
- Technical, economic, and financial feasibility studies;
- Preliminary Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) studies and Environmental Social Management Plan;
- Preparation of tender documents for recruitment of a consultant firm to carry out detailed engineering design and a detailed ESIA if the study confirms the feasibility of the proposed project; and,
- Preparation of the business case.
Procurement of consultancy services will follow the Bank’s “÷Rules and Procedures for the use of Consultants’, which are available on the Bank’s website.
Bidding documents are expected to be available in May 2015.
