The Heidelberg Oil Pipeline is located in the Gulf of Mexico, approximately 322 km southwest of New Orleans, Louisiana, and transports crude oil from Anadarko Petroleum Corporation’s Heidelberg development to an existing third-party pipeline system. The pipeline was laid in water depths of up to 1,600 m.
The pipeline is designed to transport up to 120,000 bbl/d of oil.
Enbridge’s Offshore Pipelines division now owns and operates 11 active natural gas gathering and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission-regulated transmission pipelines, and two active oil pipelines, connecting to deepwater developments in four major corridors of the Gulf of Mexico.
Enbridge expects to bring two additional deepwater oil pipelines into service in the Gulf of Mexico between now and 2018: the Big Foot Oil Pipeline and the Stampede Oil Pipeline.
Enbridge transports approximately 43 percent of total offshore natural gas production, and 54 percent of deepwater natural gas production, in the Gulf of Mexico.
