The ASME code is the standard that regulates the design, development and construction of boilers and pressure vessels, and specifies the requirements for the qualification of welders and welding procedure specifications.
The three-day course, taking place in Perth on 15-17 November and Brisbane on 22-24 November, will be facilitated by Walter J. Sperko, P.E., the President of Sperko Engineering Services, a consulting firm specialising in metal fabrication technology.
Mr Sperko has particular experience in piping and pressure vessel fabrication, installation, maintenance and repair.
He is also a past-Chair of the ASME Welding, Brazing and Fusing Standards Committee IX and a member of ASME Subcommittee III, Nuclear Components.
The course will give participants a working knowledge of ASME Section IX, including how to comply with its requirements and is intended for people who are involved in writing and qualifying welding and brazing procedure specifications; qualifying welders; brazers and operators; reviewing suppliers procedures; auditing or reviewing in-house procedures and qualifications; and estimating jobs which impose the requirements of Section IX.
