Industry growth sparks office moves and new appointments

Recent multimillion dollar contract wins associated with the development of CSG fields in Queensland has seen Fyfe almost double staff numbers and open new offices in Adelaide and Brisbane.

It has also restructured the company to streamline operations, with the appointment of Michael Bessen to the position of Chief Operating Officer. Mr Bessen will be in charge of Fyfe’s operations across Australia and ensure daily operations meet the requirements of the company’s business objectives and the expectations of clients.

Rowan Kilsby has been appointed Division Manager for Fyfe’s Oil and Gas Division in South Australia, while Arthur Kang takes up a similar role in Queensland. Mr Kilsby and Mr Kang will report to Mr Bessen.

A number of new appointments have also been made to look after the day-to-day operations of the various engineering, survey and town planning disciplines. These include Gabor Ujvari as Mechanical Engineering Manager, Mark Harris as Business Development Manager, and Steve Polglase as Pipeline Engineering Manager, all based in Adelaide.

James Czornohalan has also moved to Brisbane to manage the mechanical and pipeline engineering division in that state.

Fyfe Managing Director Mark Dayman said the changes had been necessary to create greater efficiencies and help streamline operations.

“Since the end of March 2011, total staff numbers have risen from 250 to almost 360 in what has been the fastest period of growth in our history,” he said. “In Brisbane, the growth was so great that it outstripped the capacity of our existing office in suburban Springwood. As a result, we recently opened new office space in the Brisbane CBD area to house Fyfe’s oil and gas operations.

“We have retained our Springwood office for the firm’s survey and land development operations and will also be expanding capacity in our regional offices at Chinchilla, Dalby and Roma, near major CSG developments, and at Coolum.”

Fyfe has also moved its Adelaide operations from the inner suburb of Rose Park to offices at Flinders Street in the city, while its corporate services functions have been relocated to new facilities in Pirie Street.

Mr Dayman said Fyfe was also looking at a number of potential acquisitions and mergers to broaden its offering to clients and its geographical spread.
