HyP SA on track for 2020 operation

Developed through AGIG’s Australian Gas Networks (AGN) arm, HyP SA is a demonstration plant in the Tonsley Innovation District, south of Adelaide, that will contain a 1.25 MW electrolyser and produce small quantities of hydrogen which will be blended into the local gas distribution network.

Valmec said it was currently completing construction of the electrolyser shed, with mechanical and electrical teams having already commenced interconnection works of instrument air, process tubing and cable tray/cables.

The contractor said top executives from AGIG and members of the South Australian Government had recently visited the site and praised both the progress of the project and the high safety standards on display.

AGN has been supported by a $4.9 million grant from the SA Government’s Renewable Technology Fund to build and operate the project.

By mid-2020, AGN expects the $11.4 million facility will begin its renewable hydrogen production.
