Halliburton contracted for Ichthys

INPEX Ichthys project

Operated by INPEX, Ichthys Phase 2 will involve the development of at least 12-15 development wells within production licence WA-50-L in the Browse Basin, offshore Western Australia and includes the potential for workovers and well intervention of existing and planned wells.

Halliburton’s contracts include directional drilling, logging while drilling, surface data logging, drilling and completions fluids, cementing, liner hangers, coring and well completions services.

The company has facilities in Jandakot and Broome, WA which it will use to support the project, with Halliburton saying it expects to hire locally in some cases.

“We are excited to win this work and to collaborate with INPEX to deliver our extensive drilling and completions services in addition to our digital capabilities in the strategically significant Browse Basin,” said Halliburton Australasia Vice President Jason Jeow.

Beginning in March 2020, the campaign is expected to run for three years.

The $55 billion Ichthys Project officially opened in November 2018, with a capacity at its onshore production facility of 8.9 million t from two LNG processing trains.

The project can produce 100,000 bbl/d of condensate at its peak and 1.65 million t/a of liquid petroleum gas.
