GD Engineering & Construction celebrates 10 years without a lost-time injury

GD Engineering & Construction undertook its first project in North Queensland in 2004.

While the company has grown and evolved, safety has always been of the highest priority.

This year’s achievement of 10 years without a lost time injury showcases this commitment.

Like many contractors, the company has third-party accredited management systems, however, GD credits its top-down leadership, the genuine commitment of its senior managers, and the pride of its people to have achieved this outstanding result.

Top-down leadership

Managing Director and founder Mark Greene regularly visits project sites to personally understand how work crews are progressing, many of whom work remotely.

Safety is kept top-of-mind for all employees with a “˜safety moment’ leading-in every corporate meeting.

Emails highlighting safety milestones on projects are sent out to all staff, and safety talks are held at the start of each day on site.

It is an integral part of GD’s business, not simply an add-on or after-thought that is tacked on.

To coincide with the company’s 10 years worked without incident, and in recognition of the company’s growth and expansion, GD has launched a new “˜Zero Harm’ safety program.

This program is founded on nine principles that will continue to foster safety communication, education and accountability for the company’s staff.

GD Engineering & Construction has also strengthened its employee welfare assistance program that looks to continuously improve the overall well-being and health of the company’s staff by providing additional support, particularly for those working remotely.

As new opportunities arise, GD’s safety goal will always remain the same: to work without incident for its clients and ensure that at the end of the shift, day and each roster every member of our team returns home safely.

GD Engineering & Construction is a multi-disciplinary constructor formed on 1 July 2014 through the merger of GD Pipelines and Greene Project and Construction Management.
