The purchase, for an undisclosed sum, was finalised this week.
Fyfe Managing Director Mark Dayman said Boardman Peasley provided surveying services to major mining companies, property developers and other industries in the Hunter Valley and surrounding regions.
“The acquisition gives us access to the mining sector as well as an office in the Upper Hunter Valley, which is within a two hour radius of any potential coal seam gas activity in NSW,” he said.
“Coal seam gas operations have been an important area of growth for Fyfe, especially in Queensland, and the purchase of Boardman Peasley positions us well for when development moves into New South Wales.
“It also assists Boardman Peasley by providing access to the additional resources offered by a national firm.”
Mr Dayman said Boardman Peasley had nine employees, all of whom had been offered continued employment.
He said the acquisition was expected to be earnings-per-share accretive for Fyfe from the first year.
Boardman Peasley was established in Muswellbrook, New South Wales, in 1987 and has clients including major miners Rio, BHP Billiton and Xstrata/Glencore.
It has also undertaken work for the New South Wales Government ahead of the sale of the power assets of Macquarie Generation and been involved in major sub-divisions at Scone and Muswellbrook.
Fyfe has offices in each mainland capital city, apart from Canberra, as well as in regional South Australia, Queensland and the Northern Territory consulting to the oil and gas, resources, infrastructure and property industries.
Fyfe currently has around 500 employees and turnover approaching $80 million.
In November last year, Fyfe opened its first overseas office at Manila in the Philippines.
