Among those approved was the Pathways for Hydrogen Adaptation and Industrial Processes project, which aims to de-risk the adaptation to hydrogen fuel to thermal industrial processes, along with a PhD research project advancing the atomic-level understanding of hydrogen embrittlement to help design new structural metals with improved resistance.

The board also approved a project to deliver technical guidelines for end-of-life pipeline decommissioning and abandonment, based on international practices translated for Australian situations.

The Future Fuels CRC is focused on enabling the decarbonisation of Australia’s energy networks, working in collaboration with its partners across the industrial, academic and political sectors.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the group said it would continue to develop its research were safe for researchers and participants.
