Pipeline industry professionals from around Australia and overseas will head to the Gold Coast for four days of networking and information sharing from 17 to 20 October at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Earlier this year the pipeliners included the word “˜gas’ in the name of their association to help highlight the challenges facing the gas industry and to underline their work on domestic gas issues.
“Our industry has members involved in transportation of water, oil, slurry and gas and the technical issues and opportunities remain a very strong focus for us,” APGA Chief Executive Cheryl Cartwright said today.
“At the same time, we are addressing Australia’s real challenges in dealing with gas supply and demand, with increasing government focus on the operation of the gas market.
“A strong gas industry is not only good for Australia; it also means a strong pipeline industry.”
The APGA Convention business sessions on Monday 19 October and Tuesday 20 October will also cover important topics such as health and safety, environmental management and knowledge transfer.
“Moving natural gas safely and efficiently, which is critical for consumers, industry and power generation, will also be a key topic of discussion, as will the world-leading APGA-developed industry competency standards now being used by member companies for assessing and developing their engineering skills and by our younger members when they are considering their career direction,” Ms Cartwright said.
More than 600 pipelines and gas industry people will attend with around 100 exhibitors showcasing their products and information over 134 exhibition stands at the event.
The Opening Address to Monday’s business session will be by The Hon John-Paul Langbroek MP, the State member for Surfers Paradise, Deputy Opposition Leader of the LNP, and Shadow Treasurer and Minister for the Commonwealth Games.
Opening addresses will also be by APGA Chief Executive, Cheryl Cartwright, and APGA President, Mark Dayman.
They will be followed by APGA’s annual convention keynote address – this year by the renowned Laurie Lawrence, former Australian Rugby Union representative and Olympic and World Champion Swim Coach.
