The seminar was run in order to disseminate some of the important and ground-breaking research that has been conducted through the Energy Pipelines Cooperative Research Centre (CRC). The seminar was attended by more than 70 pipeline industry professionals, who heard 13 presentations on all four of the Energy Pipelines CRC’s research programs.
For the first time at an Energy Pipelines CRC seminar, a panel discussion was held on potential input into AS 2885. The panel discussion was facilitated by Peter Tuft, who is the Chair of the working group that is currently revising Part 1 of AS 2885. The Panel consisted of industry advisors Leigh Fletcher and John Piper, as well as Cheng Lu and YouYou Wu from the University of Wollongong, who answered questions and discussed changes that could be made to the fracture control flow chart in AS 2885.1.
Key mentions must go to Ajit Godbole and his presentation titled “˜Blowdown at Brassal’, which received high praise from attendees, Michael Shannon from Santos for being the first Santos representative to present at an Energy Pipelines CRC research seminar and Jan Hayes from the Australian National University, who has been selected as the keynote speaker for the International Pipeline Conference 2014, which is being held in September in Calgary, Canada.
