Project operator Strike Energy and joint venture (JV) partner Warrego Energy have entered into a long-term contract with Ensign for drilling services with the Ensign 970 rig.
The JV said with a rig secured it now anticipates the West Erregulla 3 well will spud during the third quarter of 2020, while the drilling of the West Erregulla 4 well will follow shortly after.
Planning for the West Erregulla 5 well is also underway and a decision will be made by the JV on its drilling no later than the end of November this year.
The Ensign 970 is an ADR-1500 model rig with a hook load of 340,000 kg and a proven track record of drilling comparable wells in North America.
West Erregulla is located in EP469 in Western Australia’s Perth Basin and has been awarded Lead Agency Status by the WA Government due to its potential to as a major onshore gas resource.
