Edgen Murray has secured the contract to supply pipe for the Bundaberg gas pipeline
Australian Gas Networks has awarded the contract for the proposed 28.5 km Bundaberg Gas Pipeline in Queensland.
The contract involves the supply of 29.2 km of API 5L X52 PSL2 high pressure 3LPE coated steel linepipe.
The pipeline will begin at the existing 274 km, 114 mm Wide Bay Pipeline, situated west of Bundaberg, extending through to the Port of Bundaberg.
An Edgen Murray spokesperson told The Australian Pipeliner that delivery of the pipe to Bundaberg is expected to be completed in early February, with construction scheduled to commence in March–April.
Once complete, the pipeline will have the capacity to deliver a further 0.5 TJ/d of gas above the required 1.1 TJ/d to support the development of the new AU$70 million Knauf Plasterboard facility.
The pipeline is expected to be operational in early 2017, with public consultation likely to start in the first half of 2016 on the potential for a State Development Area around the Port of Bundaberg.
Zinfra was awarded the construction contract for the pipeline.
The company has also been awarded a pipeline supply contract by AWE Ltd for the Waitsia Gas Project in Western Australia.
The scope of work includes the supply of 3.7km of API 5L X52 PSL2 high pressure 3LPE coated steel linepipe, in conjunction with the station pipe and fittings package.
Delivery of the linepipe to the Dongara stockpile site will commence in early March.
AWE and Waitsia joint venture partner Origin Energy reached a final investment decision for the first stage of development for the Waitsia Gas Project in January 2016.
Stage 1A will see the Waitsia-1 and Senecio-3 gas wells connected to the refurbished Xyris Production Facility, with treated gas from the facility to be delivered to the 416 km, 350 mm Parmelia pipeline for domestic consumption.
Engineering, execution and management costs for Stage 1A of the project are estimated to be around AU$17.5 million gross.
