Diversified Construction working hard in Queensland

Under this program the two councils, Brisbane City Council and Caboolture Shire Council, combined resources to drill aquifer bores in order to augment the region’s dwindling water supplies. Once suitable bore water was located, a network of pipes connected the bores to the treatment plants. Diversified Construction was responsible for the connections from the bores into the treatment plants.

Altogether, in the Brisbane area, a total of 18 km of pipework was laid in five different suburbs and the crews had to contend with trenching through traffic areas and through vegetation areas. On Bribie Island the challenge was somewhat different as trenching and pipe installation was through sandy areas of natural vegetation. In addition there was the risk of inclement weather affecting the low lying areas which have a naturally high water table. However, the 11 km of reticulation pipework was completed ahead of schedule due to innovative solutions which minimised the exposure of the open trenches to the weather.

Overall, the Alliance approach proved a great success as the project team managed to deliver the program three months ahead of schedule and well within budget.

Diversified Construction’s General Manager of Water and Waste Water Con Bookogianne praised the project team, saying “the team-based approach of the Alliance included both designers and suppliers produced an exceptional result in the face of a crisis situation of low water supplies.”
