DEHN offers a range IECEx rated spark-gaps, which are used to protect insulated flanges from lightning and induced surge currents.
Over the past seven years, spark-gaps have drastically improved in efficiency, from a lightning impulse surge current rating of 50 kiloampere (kA) to 100 kA.
The spark-gap is now rated as IP 67 and does not have to be installed into a subsequent enclosure.
DEHN also offers measuring, control and regulation (MCR) circuit surge protection devices, which have full condition monitoring even from remote sites.
After two years of field tests, DEHN will soon be bringing to the market a switchable solid-state device designed to simultaneously provide DC decoupling and AC continuity/grounding when used with cathodically protected structures, such as pipelines, tanks, grounding systems, and cable casings.
DEHN will be exhibiting its latest IECEx Isolating Spark-Gap for buried pipelines at the upcoming APIA Exhibition in October.
The spark-gap can be installed above ground without compromising the protection levels due to long cables and inductive voltdrop.
