Bredero’s coating arms QGP

As with many of the projects that Bredero Shaw Australia is involved with, the Queensland Gas Pipeline (QGP) expansion project was managed in two key sections – pipe procurement and supply, and logistics and pipeline construction.

Jemena contracted OneSteel Oil and Gas to handle the pipe procurement and supply contract. OneSteel was responsible for the procurement of steel, pipe make and coating application. The logistics portion was interfaced with AJ Lucas, with approximately 14 trucks per day loaded from Bredero’s Kembla yard, located in New South Wales.

Bredero Shaw provided the internal lining and dual layer fusion bonding epoxy (FBE) coating for the full scope of approximately 113 km of 400 mm electric resistance welded pipe.

The company also worked with a small quantity of 55 mm and 65 mm thick concrete weight coating and thicker dual layer FBE for horizontal directional drilling sections.

The coating was completed within the agreed project time frames, and demonstrated the effectiveness of experienced supply chain partners.
