This performance can be attributed to the experienced team of dedicated employees, many of whom have worked on Australia’s major pipelines over recent years.
The use of a proven ISO 9001 quality system that controls all processes throughout Bredero Shaw’s business resulted in a product that exceeded the project’s testing parameters. The result can also be attributed to a special focus on inspection, testing and continual improvement within the organisation.
Another contributing factor to the efficiency of the Kembla Grange is the focus and drive Bredero Shaw has placed on the safety of its employees and the environment in which they work.
Also a key factor in the success was Bredero Shaw’s ability to capture and maintain the integrity of the pipe identification using its unique tracking system. The system has been designed specifically for the tracking of pipe and related services. This system also allows Bredero Shaw to track the pipe’s heat number, as well as automatically apply external barcodes around the pipe surface and at each end of the pipe.
This ability to apply barcodes at either end of the pipe allows construction personnel to easily access the barcode when assigning weld numbers. This benefit was seen when Bredero Shaw representatives visited the project. It was clear that the ability to have immediate access to the barcode improved the weld tracking process.
Another service provided by Bredero Shaw was the centre line marking of the pipe prior to dispatch to site. This allowed the stringing crews to quickly remove pipe from the trucks and removed the practice of climbing onto trucks to apply the centre line mark once at site.
Bredero Shaw believes that with their experienced team of employees, the quality standards set by both their clients’ and internal performance criteria, along with the safe environment they have created, Bredero Shaw is able to meet and exceed their customers’ requirements and challenges into the future.
