The company said the sanctioning of its QCLNG Project, to be located on Curtis Island, Queensland, realises one of the company’s long-term strategic objectives to globalise its LNG business through an Asia-Pacific equity LNG position.
The company anticipates significantly lower capital expenditure for a third train at the site and has already begun marketing third train production.
The QCLNG Project, to be operated by BG Group subsidiary QGC, will initially involve a two-train liquefaction plant on Curtis Island near Gladstone, with initial production capacity of 8.5 MMt/a of LNG.
Meanwhile, SunWater has called for tenders for the supply of electrical equipment and associated works as part of the Kenya to Chinchilla Weir Water Pipeline Project.
The pipeline forms part of QGC’s plans to build a water treatment plant near Chinchilla, which will treat water extracted as part of its CSG drilling activities associated with the QCLNG Project.
SunWater is responsible for the construction of the pipeline to transport the treated water from the plant to the Chinchilla weir. The pipeline length will be approximately 20 km.
