The presentation focused on the range of inspection tools that are currently available and showed the audience just how far the industry has come in offering ILI tools for any pipeline, regardless of age, design or service.
From the combined caliper and magnetic flux leakage (MFL) ILI tool to the CPCM cathodic protection pipeline inspection tool, the superb accuracy of these tools gives asset owners and operators the ability to accurately repair critical pipeline defects and monitor pipeline anomalies.
This also allows pipeline integrity to be improved and pipeline life to be extended due to the large range of data captured on each pipeline anomaly.
Craig also enlightened the audience with images of various defect types that the ILI tools can detect, such as dents, gouges and metal loss from corrosion and mechanical damage from external interference.
