APIA talks golf and gas in Perth

Mr Ford gave a brief introduction to Apache Energy, a North West Shelf pipeline operator and the largest offshore driller for gas in Australia. The company currently owns 43 pipelines with a combined total length of 695 km, which are in service or preserved. Mr Ford added that there are two more pipelines due for completion in 2011 – and more to come.

One of these soon to be completed pipelines is part of the Devil Creek Development, which Mr Ford said is
45 per cent owned by Apache and 55 per cent owned by Santos. Two other major assets Mr Ford spoke about were the Julimar and Brunello gas discoveries, which will supply the Chevron-operated Wheatstone LNG Development. Mr Ford also mentioned the Varanus Island Hub, which assisted the company’s entry into Australia in 1993.

Prior to the dinner, which was sponsored by McConnell Dowell and OSD Pipelines, a number of APIA members enjoyed a day of golf in an Ambrose tournament. After the game, the members relaxed and socialised with a few pies and drinks at the clubhouse. The golf day was sponsored by Bredero Shaw, Enerflex, Denso and OneSteel among others.
