The convention will begin with keynote speaker, Mark Wales, whose current mission in life is to educate others on leadership, strategy and peak performance while under stress.
Wales was a career special forces officer in charge of 30 elite soldiers. His role was to lead combat missions deep behind enemy lines. He completed 10 tours of duty to Afghanistan, Iraq, East Timor, Lebanon and the Solomon Islands.
Wales’s opening words will be followed by a leader panel with a new twist and the second keynote address of the convention will come from Margaret Gayen and Carina Nixon whose topic is ‘Creating cultural change to support gender equality in engineering’.
Moreover, in 2022 APGA will be hosting the innovation award pitch in person for the first time. This event should create some excitement and that will be promptly followed by two papers on future fuels and a greener world.
The final session of the day will occur on Monday and will focus on environmental, social, and governance factors. The session will feature a variety of presentations including an introduction to the ‘Introducing the Hydrogen Pipelines Code of Practice’ from Josh Wickham.
Tuesday then is set to kick off with the pipeline operations group session which will include a presentation from Colin Yeoh and Alan Creffield on ‘Making Pipelines Piggable in the 21st Century’ as well as a paper on the issue of pipeline encroachment.
Following that, there will be papers on digitisation, environmental issues, emissions and construction, and before the conference wraps up with a closer look at some recent projects.
