Due to COVID-19, APGA has cancelled its face-to-face events for the upcoming months.
Instead, the association has been busy creating new styles of events that do not require people to gather in one place – including the new ‘APGA Interview’, delivered through Zoom, to discuss hot topics in the industry.
The first interview took place in May, with AGIG CEO Ben Wilson discussing Australia’s gas industry with Mr Davies.
On 25 June, Mr Davies returned to the interviewer’s chair with APA Group Executive Operations Darren Rogers in place as interviewee to discuss how APA is responding to the pandemic.
In his position, Mr Rogers is responsible for the safe operations, maintenance, asset management and in-year revenue responsibility of APA’s portfolio of transmission, power, networks and midstream infrastructure assets.
Included in this portfolio is more than 15,000 km of transmission pipelines, 750MW of solar and wind farms, gas storage and processing and distribution assets.
During the interview, Mr Rogers discussed the changes to APA’s operations and his opinion on what recovery will look like after COVID-19 – which, after APA released its estimated final distribution report for the six months ending 30 June 2020 showing an increase in security over the previous year, looks positive.
Additionally, as APA’s operations are considered an essential service, its critical facilities and essential field sites were able to remain operational, ensuring its assets remained safe and services to its customers continued right through the pandemic.
APGA plans to continue this already-successful series with more interviews to be scheduled and announced shortly.
