APC: providing a home away from home along QSN 3

Australian Portable Camps (APC) has supplied and installed camp accommodation and facilities including power generation, water treatment and waste water treatment for the QSN 3 Project. Each campsite includes kitchen facilities, wet mess and laundry facilities, and can house up to 500 people.

All of the camp buildings and facilities are designed and manufactured at APC’s Monarto facility in South Australia before being transported to site by a fleet of APC-owned trucks.

No camp site is ever the same, and APC has a team of designers to develop a campsite solution for different environments and project requirements.

Building a home away from home has its challenges. While APC aims to be completely self-sufficient, weather conditions and lack of local infrastructure can create a number of challenges in getting a site up and running on schedule.

It takes around 16-20 weeks for APC to deliver a camp, from design to completion, and the number of construction workers varies significantly according to the size of the project.

Once the camp is established, a small team of APC personnel is left onsite for maintenance. All catering and provision of other services is usually conducted by a third party provider.

APC provides a turn-key solution for crews working on Australia’s long distance, remote transmission pipelines, while using structures which meet highest compliance standards.
