Energy360 produces biogas by breaking down organic materials in an oxygen-free environment to supply renewable sources of energy for the agricultural, landfill, food processing and waste management industries. According to Australia’s Bioenergy Roadmap Report, this will play an important role in creating more sustainable operations in these industries achieving a cleaner future.
AGL hopes to support the decarbonisation of high emission businesses in Australia through the acquisition of Energy360.
AGL CEO Christine Corbett said as Australia’s energy transition continues to move at pace, the company wants to ensure it is offering customers the most innovative energy solutions so they can lower costs and achieve sustainability goals.
“AGL is already Australia’s largest provider of commercial solar, and with this acquisition we are expanding the range of sustainable business energy solutions we can offer our commercial customers. This sustainable energy solution will complement our existing solar and battery products, helping customers on the path to decarbonisation,” she said.
Energy360 CEO Samantha Lamond said she is pleased with the new partnership, and with AGL’s renewable energy strategy.
“It fits that one of Australia’s largest investors in renewable energy is committed to investing in renewable gas for a zero-carbon future,” she said.
“There are some enormous opportunities for businesses to engage with this proven zero-emissions, renewable gas solution, and we are very excited to be partnering with AGL to deliver this technology.”
Following AGL Energy’s proposed demerger, Energy360 will form part of AGL Australia in 2022.
