Western Water commences sewer construction

Unitywater

The 2.5 km pipeline is being constructed near an existing sewer pipe, which was build in the 1960s and is approaching its capacity.

Works involve laying 375 mm pipe to Lerderderg Street and crossing several farming properties as well as 300 mm pipe along the street’s rural section to the north of Masons Lane.

As Bacchus Marsh is growing steadily in population, this new pipeline will ensure Western Water can meet the increased demand for essential sewer services.

The sewer pipeline is one of several local projects Western Water has planned for 2020; others include upgrading the sewer pump station at Peelmans Lane Reserve, building a new sewer pipe from Grant Street to the Bacchus Marsh Recycled Water Plant and constructing a new water main.

Western Water is projected to spend AU$82 million in capital works during this financial year.
