Ken Fitzpatrick has been appointed as Chair of the National Offshore Petroleum Safety and Environmental Management Authority (NOPSEMA) Advisory Board.
Minister for Resources, Water and Northern Australia Keith Pitt announced the appointment yesterday, with Mr Fitzpatrick to serve a three-year term commencing 5 September.
Mr Fitzpatrick has previously served as CEO of PTTEP Australasia, has held senior roles at Ampolex, Mobil, Nexen and Woodside, and has served as Western Australia’s state chairman of the Australian Petroleum Production and Exploration Association (APPEA).
Mr Pitt said Mr Fitzpatrick was ideal to lead the NOPSEMA Board thanks to his strong stakeholder engagement skills and knowledge of the industry.
“The NOPSEMA Advisory Board has an important role to play in providing high-level policy and strategic advice on the safety and environmental management of offshore oil and gas activities,” he said.
Mr Pitt thanked departing Chair Dr Erica Smyth, who has been in the role since March 2017, calling her contribution “substantial”.
