McConnell Dowell has won a civil works contract for an oil project comprising a Petrofac, Saipem and Samsung Engineering joint venture (JV).
Known as the Thai Oil Clean Fuel Project, the JV – known as UJV – is transforming an existing oil refinery in Sriracha, Thailand into an environmentally friendly facility that will produce high quality transportation fuels and have an increased capacity of 400,000 bbl/d, up from 275,000 bbl/d.
McConnell Dowell’s contract consists of earthworks and civil works in both greenfield and brownfield areas to support the expansion project and includes the provision of new processing units, all required utilities and supporting facilities.
“This project represents an excellent opportunity for McConnell Dowell to build and enhance our specialist capability in Thailand and strengthen our presence in Sriracha with the recent securing of the Pump Station package for Thai Oil,” said McConnell Dowell Managing Director for South East Asia Tom Dockray.
Works on the project have already commenced and the project is due for completion in 2023.
