NZOG considering offshore pipeline
New Zealand Oil & Gas is reportedly investigating a seabed-to-shore gas pipeline and a gas production plant off the east coast of New Zealand’s South Island.
According to the Otago Daily Times, New Zealand Oil & Gas (NZOG) is investigating the pipeline and plant as part of plans to develop the Clipper oil and gas prospect, 60 km off the coast of Oamaru.
NZOG holds a 50:50 stake in the prospect with Beach Energy and has been conducting discussions for a farm-in partner, who have signed confidentiality agreements.
“Those agreements are with more than a handful of operators who have the capability of working at those depths,” said an NZOG spokesperson.
NZOG has until April 2018 to make a decision to test drill the Clipper prospect by 2020, otherwise it will be forced to give up the permit.
