As long-time members of the industry will attest, everyday Australian pipeline industry vernacular is full of colourful references and anecdotes related to the pioneering men – the “˜legends’ – of the industry. Such is the strength of these inspiring and entertaining stories that Great Southern Press, publisher of The Australian Pipeliner, has released a book to document these legends’ biographies.
Entitled Pipeline Industry Legends of Australia, this historical publication profiles almost 40 selected industry founding members, providing fascinating and engaging accounts of their experiences in the industry.
Subscribers of The Australian Pipeliner magazine can look forward to receiving a soft copy of this book in the coming months. Copies will also be distributed in delegate satchels at the APIA Convention in October 2012.
For all non-subscribers, or those wanting to purchase additional or hard copy versions, this piece of pipeline memorabilia is available for pre-order via The Australian Pipeliner’s online shop. Print numbers are limited, so place your order at www.pipeliner.com.au/shop now to avoid disappointment.
Pipeline Industry Legends of Australia is the first in a limited series, so subscribers can look forward to participating in the production of the next edition. Dates for this are set to be announced shortly.
An example of one of the fascinating biographies found in the Legends book – founder of McConnell Dowell’s Australian operations, Stuart McDonald – has been included on page “Stuart McDonald” on page 80.
