Fyfe Engineers and Surveyors has a long and distinguished history in surveying and land development work that goes back to 1966 when the company founder Ross Fyfe was employed as a trainee surveyor at BHP Whyalla works.
Ross was a Director of Fyfe Mitchell Reid – a survey and civil engineering practice – before setting out on his own practice in 1978. The parent company Fyfe Pty Ltd was created in 1982 with a handful of dedicated staff. Ross is still involved in the company as a Director and Project Manager.
The company now has a total of four Directors, who have all been with the company for more than 20 years. The current Managing Director, Mark Dayman, has been with the company since 1984. Mark has been the driver behind Fyfe’s successful expansion into survey and engineering services for the oil and gas industry.
Fyfe has used its extensive experience to branch out from survey work into project management for large land developments and property infrastructure design. This ultimately led to the acquisition of Allan Gilbert and Associates – a civil engineering company – in 2001, and MJ Hedges Geomeasure – a Queensland survey and town planning company – in 2002. Both of these companies also have a long and distinguished history in their chosen field.
In this same period, Fyfe followed the development of the oil and gas industry in South Australia and Queensland, providing oil and gas consultancy services to this industry. Fyfe continues to expand this service and its traditional survey work area.
The recent acquisition of a Northern Territory survey company expands Fyfe’s area of activity into northern Australia.
