The Northern Territory Power and Water Corporation is calling for tenders for a scoping study and front-end engineering and design (FEED) for the proposed Tanami Gas Pipeline and associated facilities.
The proposed project involves a 550 km pipeline connecting Newmont Mining Services’ Granites and Dead Bullock mining operations to the 1,629 km Amadeus Gas Pipeline in order to offset the company’s reliance on diesel for power generation at the site.
Newmont plans to modify its existing engines for duel-fuel capacity, while the pipeline will traverse alongside the remote Tanami Road reserve.
The proposed gas pipeline may also be utilised to supply gas to the community of Yuendumu, located about 290 km north-west of Alice Springs on the Tanami Road, for power generation.
The objective of the scoping study and FEED effort is to have a specialist engineering/construction service provider investigate options and develop a feasible scope of works specification, design basis and cost estimation for the pipeline and associated facilities.
Tenders close 7 December 2015.
