The strong young pipeliner presence at this year’s APIA Convention was no more evident than at the National YPF Convention Drinks, held at the Zeta Bar in the Hilton prior to the Welcome Dinner.
There has been much activity throughout the year within each of the YPF chapters in each state, with many young pipeliners eager to attend networking functions, informative seminars and educational site visits organised by APIA.
However, for many, the YPF drinks function was the first time they had met YPFers from chapters outside of their own, and with over 30 young pipeline professionals in attendance, the event provided a great opportunity for YPFers to learn more about the industry in other states.
Discussion ranged from the successes (and failures) of competitors in the golfing tournament earlier, as well as thoughts as to future YPF events that could attract even further participation than the highly successful events of 2011.
