The FUSIONTRAC 500 is the most advanced butt-welding crawler carrier suitable for all types of polyethylene (PE) pipeline construction. A machine built for the CSG industry

Demand in Australia, and in particular the coal seam gas (CSG) industry, has driven the development, manufacture and release of the FUSIONTRAC 500 into Brisbane where the product has been launched and put straight to work. Opportunities to expand on the range have already been discussed in VIETZ’ technical development department and other models are in planning.

The FUSIONTRAC concept is based on the advantages of the VIETZ ARCOTRAC series of welding crawler carriers, which allow customers to perform their work much more efficiently, safely and conveniently. The robust construction and a low noise level make the machine a very valuable and reliable piece of equipment for every PE pipeline construction company.

The FUSIONTRAC 500 features the latest generation of the DEUTZ turbocharged diesel engine, which runs the generator and the hydraulic drive system. An efficient sound deadening system keeps the noise level down, while the upgraded radiator and oil cooler ensure full operation up to 50°Celsius ambient temperature. A two stage air filter element combined with a cyclone dust separator allows operation in extremely dusty environments. The included air compressor has three outlets with quick couplers supplying compressed air for cleaning the machine and the cabin. The service and maintenance points are within easy access. All components fitted are from reputable manufacturers such as Deutz and Sauer-Danfoss.

The heavy-duty undercarriage with oil-lubricated chain segments and oil-lubricated rollers guarantees longevity in even very abrasive soil conditions. The long overall track length gives the FUSIONTRAC500 superior static and dynamic stability.

Safety and comfort

The certified roll-over protection structure protected cabin with tinted glass is equipped with a heavy-duty air conditioning system. The cabin minimises the risk of contamination during the welding process and provides a safe work environment for the operator. Instrument controls and a swivel suspension seat are mounted for maximum operator comfort. For safety reasons the FUSIONTRAC 500 is equipped with a reverse camera, automatic shut-off function in case of overheating and acoustic warning signals to indicate critical working parameters.

The FUSIONTRAC 500 is fitted with a McElroy butt welding system for pipe diameters between 180 and 500 mm and includes a 4,000 watt heater plate and a hydraulic facer. Its specific compact design fits perfectly in the cabin and can be safely used by the operator. The McElroy Data Logger and PLC records and controls the critical jointing parameters.
